Dj Mars Miranda dropped sick beats to keep us pumped up all throughout our session. It was really fun because good music can set your pace and it will make you enjoy your workout more. Another bonus is that they added some cool hits from the 90’s and early 2000’s in some of the tracks.

Also, I got a chance to do it with my fellow FitStop beshie, Nikki Torres. We did the 3-hour fitness marathon and it was hella fun. We were able to do so many things from dance, HIIT, martial arts, strength, and more. It was totally a night to remember because it was one of the most memorable fitness events that I’ve attended.

FEBRUARY 2017 FAVORITES

March 20, 2017

Let’s take a look back at the past month and check out some of the stuff that I got and became my favorite. Don’t worry because this is going to be a short post about some items that made it to my favorites list for the month of February.

 FASHIONFebFaveFashion

I’m really into denim and this denim from Penshoppe is my new fave. During the shopping event, I laid my eyes on this jacket already and I knew immediately that I’ll be taking it home with me. Don’t you just love the patches attached to it? It just gives it more spunk and a lot of character.

FOODFebFaveFood

This 2017, I promised myself that I’ll be more conscious with what I eat and always opt for the healthier alternative. I’ve tried this yogurt already when I attended their store opening at SM North EDSA and I loved it the moment I had my first scoop. I’m a big fan of yogurt and this is something new to me, what I like about BLK 513 is their generous amount of toppings per cup. You’ll really feel that it’s worth your money and the quality is simply top-notch.

FITNESSFebFaveFitness

Just a disclaimer, I wouldn’t go all the way technical with this. I’ll just be sharing my thoughts about these products and why they made it to my favorites list. First, we have the Muscletech’s 100% Platinum Whey. It’s my first time to try this and what I love about it is the taste and the consistency. This whey protein is very easy to mix and does not foam at all. It also aids for faster muscle recovery and backed up with a good amount of protein per serving.

Second item on my list is Nutrabio’s BCAA in watermelon flavor. Recently I discovered how branch chain amino acids help is building the muscle and also with our strength. What I like about this product is the tangy taste from the watermelon flavoring and the effects I’m experiencing with it whenever I have it as my intra-workout drink. Of course, all of these supplements are available at Muscle Shack PH. You may check out their facebook page to know more about their promos and exciting offers.

Some of you might be looking for the perfect bikini, perfecting that diet plan or finishing your last rep in the gym. To give you a dose of fitsipiration here’s a quick roundup of fit girls you should follow on Instragram for some motivation.

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT/EXERCISE DO YOU DO?

I do Pilates, Suspension training, I run (training for my first 10k) and I lift weights. It’s fun combining all these because it targets different parts/muscle group and it doesn’t make me feel bored!

 WHAT’S YOUR FITNESS MANTRA?

My fitness mantra is to take it slow. While it’s okay to push yourself, you also have to be wary of how you train. So it’s okay to take it slow and have a slow progress. After all, slow progress is better than no progress, which leads me to say, better a 30-minute run, walk or even light may workout than nothing at all.

It’s easy to compare yourself to others especially if you like their body (peg) or particular part of their body. But truth is, one of the secrets to having a better version of you is to never compare yourself to others. It’s also okay to take a day off. Take the chance to do so and let your body recover so you can work on making it stronger!

ADVICE FOR WOMEN WHO WANTS TO BE FIT

My advice is to just start. The moment you decide that you want to be fit is the moment you commit to being fit.  Choose a workout that you know you can stick to so it’s not something you dred doing. It also helps to wear workout clothes or shoes that makes you feel confident, listen to music that can get you motivated to lift weights or finish a workout set. Whatever it is that makes you more committed to sticking to your fitness journey, go do it! If you want to post progress photos of yourself on your social media channels so you can track your progress or at the bey least motivate you to continue working out, go ahead and do it! don’t mind what other people say after all, you’re doing this for yourself and not for them.

 Lian Melegrito (@liangaudence)

Lian is a fitness coach and a former member of the UP Pep Squad. She also teaches strength classes in collaboration with Nike Training Club.

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT/EXERCISE DO YOU DO?

I do a combination of resistance / weight training and Cardio / high intensity interval training. With proper mobility training on recovery days.

WHAT’S YOUR FITNESS MANTRA?

My fitness mantra is “Today! Not tomorrow”. I know it seems easy for me, given that I am in the fitness industry, but tbh, I get lazy! All the time! But I have this mantra to remind me to just get it over with. Pushing it aside, or saying “tomorrow”, will either prevent you from starting or hasten your momentum. When you get lazy, you Just Do It!

ADVICE FOR WOMEN WHO WANTS TO BE FIT

Start with what makes you happy! If it’s a zumba class, or a cycling class, or heavy lifting, do it! Any workout is better than no workout at all! But remember to explore, just like everything in our life, our body needs balance. Make sure to get a balance of your cardio workouts and mix it up with some strength workouts. That way you have variety, and you keep progressing and challenging yourself.   Working out should never feel like a chore, make it enjoyable, make it a habit, and the results will just follow.

Nikki Torres (@nkitorres)

We have another Fit Stop crew over here. Nikki Torres is the creator of the cardio + toning class called NT Sweat. Check her blog and see how she slays her workout like a queen.

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT/EXERCISE DO YOU DO?

All sorts! I like doing a whole bunch of different things but my mainstays are yoga, circuit training and of course NT Sweat.

WHAT’S YOUR FITNESS MANTRA?

Just show up regardless of how you feel.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN WHO WANTS TO BE FIT?

Fitness is a lifestyle not something you jump into just to look good. It takes a lot of patience and hard work as there are no shortcuts. Get ready to fall off the wagon and jump back in hundreds, even thousands of times.

Every choice you make, no matter how small, either brings you closer to or farther from your goal–a net gain or net loss.

Your body should be your ally in fitness not your enemy. Don’t punish it by starving or overtraining if you want it to work with you and respond positively. 💜

Hilary Isaac (@hilaryisaac)

Tough Girl Extraordinaire Hillary Isaac is part of our list too. Hillary shows everyone how to stay ripped 365 days a year. Hillary is a certified fitspiration for both men and women. Did I mention that she’s also crowned as Ms.Gold’s Gym Philippines 2016?

A post shared by Hilary Isaac (@hilaryisaac) on

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT/EXERCISE DO YOU DO?

I do strength training which is basically weightlifting. I do heavy days and light days depending on my goals. I try to balance it out between building muscle strength (the ability to lift VERY heavy) and muscle endurance (the ability to execute an exercise or action for a prolonged time or high repetitions). It’s nice to look strong, but it’s more important to BE strong.

WHAT’S YOUR FITNESS MANTRA?

My fitness mantra is really more my life mantra. It’s one of my most favourite quotes in the world and it’s from Jean De La Fontaine. “Patience and Time do more than Strength or Passion” because bodybuilding and fitness take time and patience. You need to trust the process, enjoy the journey so you can learn all you need to. Time is what builds the more important parts of you. Strength and Passion can come and go seasonally and conditionally. But when you’ve devoted enough time and patience to your journey, you’ll see you’ve built a strength and pursued a passion that is more lasting.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN WHO WANTS TO BE FIT?

Go for it! Fitness comes in all shapes and sizes, so don’t feel like you need to be a certain weight to begin. Consult a professional personal trainer to get you started the right way. Tune out your naysayers and listen to your support system. They will prove very useful throughout your fitness journey. Remember your WHYs (why you’re doing this, why you started, and why you WILL succeed) and use it to motivate you and later on inspire others. Stay real and faithful to your journey because you’ll never know who’s watching you and who might be drawing confidence and inspiration just by watching you.

Angela Nepomuceno (@lush_angel)

Who says make-up and fitness do go well together? Angela of Lush Angel is here to prove you guys wrong. With her washboard abs and perfect skin, Angela is definitely an inspiration for girls all around the world.

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT/EXERCISE DO YOU DO?

I primarily do weight lifting with occasional cardio and HIIT.

WHAT’S YOUR FITNESS MANTRA?

There are no shortcuts, only hardwork.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN WHO WANTS TO BE FIT?

Set long term goals, which includes making and living a healthier lifestyle. Don’t be discouraged if you do not see results in a couple of weeks or months. It takes patience and determination to achieve your fitness goal.

I hope this list helped you to stay motivated and to keep going with your fitness game. These girls have so much fitness wisdom and even I learned a lot of things from what they said. Enjoy your fitness journey!
